Material Selection for Medical Applications:
PEEK — The Gold Standard.
PEEK is the most widely used high-performance plastic in medical devices. Why? It is biocompatible (USP Class VI), radiolucent (visible on X-ray), and can withstand repeated autoclave sterilization at 134°C. At PlasticPartsCustom, we machine PEEK into:

PPSU (Polyphenylsulfone) — Tough and Transparent.
PPSU offers excellent impact resistance and can be steam sterilized. Its natural amber transparency is useful for fluid-handling components where visual inspection is needed. Common applications include surgical tray bases and instrument handles.
PTFE — For Chemical and Biological Inertness.
PTFE catheter liners, fluid path components, and seal elements leverage the material”s complete chemical inertness and ultra-low surface energy. Nothing sticks to PTFE — including biological materials.
Regulatory Considerations:
ISO 13485 Alignment.
While ISO 13485 certification applies to finished medical device manufacturing, PlasticPartsCustom operates in alignment with ISO 13485 requirements. This means:

USP Class VI and Biocompatibility.
